yeah, we're much more well known. the different sects are of the gentry class and it's a cultivator's duty to protect the common people especially if they're part of a sect.

nah! if a commoner has the aptitude for cultivation, they can join a sect as a disciple and train. that's how a lot of sects grow. and cultivators without a sect is not the most common but not uncommon either. usually they're looking for a sect to join because that's really the best way to learn and become stronger. very few cultivators without a sect have a master they can train under.
